The City of Crockett is accepting applications for the position of Public Works Utility Operator for the City’s wastewater system. The level and hourly pay rate is dependent upon the level of TCEQ Wastewater Operators License held. This position may require working more than 40 hours per week and being on call. This position uses technical expertise to assist the Utility Crew Leader / Supervisor with operating the City’s sewer rig to maintain proper flow of sewage and/or maintaining and operating the City’s wastewater treatment plant system in a safe, effective, and efficient manner. Work includes, but is not limited to, routinely operating the sewer rig to maintain flow of sewage as needed, monitoring of plant equipment, conducting routine tests and instrument readings, calibrating lab test equipment, collecting and analyzing samples, cleaning, and maintaining mechanical equipment, facilities, and grounds, and making process control changes as needed and under direction of the Utility Crew Leader / Supervisor to maintain permit compliance. Work involves compiling and recording data, performing calculations, preparing written reports, and complying with an equipment maintenance plan and schedule.
